My Banana Republic Slim Fit Men’s Dress Shirts Review (with Photos)

I just bought 6 men's slim fit dress shirts from Banana Republic (the non-iron variety). Check out my photos and my comments about this popular shirt.

Banana Republic Slim Fit Men’s Dress Shirts.

I was overdue for new dress shirts.  My current shirts are too baggy and long for the untucked fashion.

This time around I decided to see what Banana Republic had to offer in the dress shirt department.

After buying a bunch of BR pants, I went to the dress shirt shelves.  Immediately I liked the colors and patterns.  They’re 100% cotton which is good.  I’m not much of a synthetic shirt guy except for my workout shirts.

They actually fit pretty well

The big issue was would they fit.

BR sizes its men’s shirts small, medium, large and X-large instead of the more traditional neck and arm dimensions.

With only 4 sizes, chances that no size fits well is possible.

The gentlemen helping me took me to the slim fit dress shirts shelves first.  He unwrapped a large. I put it on.

BOOM.  Almost a perfect fit.  It was good enough.  The arms were the biggest issue – they’re a tad short, but good enough since I wear these shirts with jeans and flip the cuff up.

The neck couldn’t be better, the shirt length is ideal for the untucked look.

The torso wasn’t too baggy at all.  In fact, I love slim cut.  Historically, my dress shirts were far too baggy.

I couldn’t believe my luck that the large fit so well.  I can deal with arms that are a tad short.  They’re really only a bit short if I wear these with a suit jacket.

I bought 6 different styles right then and there.  I’m the type of guy that when a particular product line fits, there’s no need to shop more.  I’d rather just load up with a sure thing.  It’s not as if I bought all the same colors or patterns.  Each shirt is pretty different.

Goes great with jeans

While my new BR slim fit dress shirts are “dress” shirts, they look fantastic with jeans.  I wear jeans most days so that’s important.

BUT, because they’re dress shirts, they look great with trousers or a suit.  While they’re short enough for the untucked look artdubai, I can tuck them in.  Their a tad short for tucking in because they do come loose, but they’ll do just fine.

My favorite way to wear these slim fit dress shirts is to flip the cuff up once and untucked.  It’s a great casual look.

Don’t have to iron

As you’ll see below, these shirts aren’t crispest, but then I didn’t iron them either.  I took them home, opened them up and put them on.

I’m a stickler for nicely pressed shirts so while these shirts claim to be non-iron shirts, I’ll probably run an iron over them.  I don’t mind because I kinda like ironing.

As you can see the arm length is a touch short when I bend my arm. I’m 6′ 3″ so short arms is often a problem with ready made apparel.

I don’t normally tuck this type of shirt these days, but did so to illustrate that it is long enough to tuck if wearing this with more formal trousers or a suit.

I like wearing my dress shirts with the cuff flipped up one time like this. The cuff is sufficiently stiff to stay in a flipped position (instead of folding down like other shirts with soft cuffs).
