TAG Heuer Connected vs. ASUS ZenWatch 3
My problem with the ASUS ZenWatch 3 when comparing it to other smartwatches is that it was my first smartwatch. Frankly, I was blown away by it; I was super impressed. This is what is called the primacy effect in psychology. It’s very difficult to avoid this… although the more smartwatches I buy and test, the easier it is to divorce myself from the primacy effect.
You might be thinking I’m nuts to rate both of the TAG and ZenWatch 3 equally (each scoring a 7.9 out of 10), but when you look at the rating criteria, it makes sense.
The TAG’s battery isn’t very good. While the ZenWatch 3 drains fairly quickly, it has a very handy fast-charge feature which charges it back up to 60% in 15 minutes. That’s super sweet and explains why it outranks TAG for battery.
And then there’s price. The TAG will set you back $1,500 while the ZenWatch 3 can be had for under $300. That’s a mega difference and when taking into all smartwatch features and functionality into consideration, clearly ZenWatch must score higher on price.
That said, there is the unrankable factor which is prestige. TAG Heuer is a luxury watch. You can’t put a price on a brand.
There’s also design. You can’t really put a number score on design. I do, and it’s my own opinion, but it really is subjective and if you have the money, like brandnames/luxury and love the TAG design, all the other features may be moot.

Speaking of other features, interestingly both TAG and ZenWatch 3 run on the same operating system, which is Android Wear. What this means is aside from ZenWatch’s custom ZenHealth app and a few custom watch faces by TAG Heuer, the smartwatch component of both watches is pretty much identical.
Does it make sense to compare these 2 smartwatches?
Yes and no.
Yes, because both are designed for casual, everyday wear. You can see above they are everyday wear watches you can wear in the office, out to dinner, etc. In other words, they’re not hardcore fitness watches.
Also yes because they both have pretty much all the same software functions via Android Wear.
No, because there is such a brand name discrepancy. ASUS ZenWatch 3 ain’t gonna impress people too much except perhaps for the smartwatch novelty. However, TAG Heuer does impress, smartwatch or no smartwatch.
Whether you think this comparison is ludicrous or not, we published it because these two watches are good options for everyday wear.
